The Legal Education Society of Alberta has named Rick Billington as the Chair of its Litigation Symposium. The Symposium will occur in Edmonton on September 26, 2024 and is aimed to improve the skills of Alberta litigation lawyers. In addition to Chairing the Symposium, Rick Billington will address the topic of “Oppression Applications before the Commercial List”, addressing strategy and law in bringing action against corporations or directors who are abusing their shareholders or creditors. Other topics will include Evidence in Constitutional Cases, Advocacy before Boards, Commissions and Hearing Officers, Effective Pre-Trial Questioning and Conflicts in Corporate Litigation. The panel will also address Exceptions to the Hearsay Rule.
